In the multilingual SOS Network Website, there are two important sections in which "interesting cases" and "methods and tools" are provided. In the former (interesting cases), close to 50 examples of interesting practice are presented, from different European countries, encapsulating programmes, systems, models, policies or practices that target social inclusion and access to education, training and employment. Cases are presented in the form or stories, often relating to one or more individuals, and extend across a range of different learning environments. In the latter (methods and tools), the focus is on the tools, processes and methodologies that were adopted or used in the initial set of "interesting cases" with members of the SOS Network team rating each of these on a scale of 1 to 5 and also inviting site visitors to vote on their preferred entries.
The broader goal of social inclusion is truly at the heart of the SOS Network project with each of the cited examples, cases or tools centred on facilitating access to (and opportunities within) education, training and employment. From a work-based learning perspective, a number of the listed examples directly involve in-company learning, employer participation and/or the use of simulated work environments. For those wishing to improve existing arrangements for one or more disadvantaged target groups, targeting increased social inclusion, there are many cases and examples provided that are worthy of review. Notably, this is not an off-the-shelf product but a series of cases and examples able to prompt change and improvement in one or more European countries, regions or localities.
